RUSSIA'S WAR AGAINST UKRAINIANS
In 2014, the Russian Federation started a brutal and aggressive war against Ukraine. The Lyatoshynsky Foundation and its team members are actively involved in supporting projects of the Ukrainian civil sector aimed at helping the Defense Forces of Ukraine. "The Principle of Hope" Charitable Foundation – is a human rights organization working towards a society where people live with dignity, in mutual respect, and without fear. The organization’s co-coordinator, human rights activist, journalist, Senior Lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Maksym Butkevych spent over two years in Russian captivity and was released in October 2024. Among the priorities of "The Principle of Hope" is assistance to military personnel and civilians returning from captivity, facilitating their reintegration, as well as reminding the international community of the thousands of Ukrainian citizens still held captive by the aggressor state.
Philosopher and president of PEN Ukraine, Volodymyr Yermolenko, along with his wife, literary critic Tetiana Ogarkova, have made over 50 trips to de-occupied and frontline territories since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022. Their priority is securing vehicles for the military, the need for which only continues to grow.
